How to update your address on Xero

Upon occasion, you'll need to move your business to new premises.

There's three places you will want to update your address in Xero - the general contact details under organisation settings and also, your sales invoices and your email templates to get your customers and suppliers to update their records.

1. Organisation Settings

Whilst in your Xero file (using a computer), you'll need to click on your business name (at the top left hand corner). There is a little arrow pointing down.

Once you click on that, a list will appear and you'll choose "Settings".

Under the "General" heading you'll see "Organisation Details" click on the blue link to select that.

Here, you'll find all your basic contact details on Xero. Update as required, and then press "Save" at the end to update your items.

2. Invoice Settings

Now that you've updated your organisation settings, you'll want to update your address on your Sales invoices.

On the same page after you've pressed "Save" above in step 2, you can scroll up and see a blue link to "Organisation Settings". Clicking this will get you back to the selection screen.

Under the heading "Features", you'll find "Invoice Settings". Click on the blue link.

Here, you'll see your invoice templates. You can amend the "contact details" on your invoice template. Remember to press "save".

3. Email templates

The final area you'll want to update is your Email Templates. Here, you specifically want to update the email templates to display an announcement about your new address for your customers and suppliers.

Generally, we update our: Sales invoice template; Remittance Advice template; AND if you use Purchase Orders, that template as well!

Again, you'll select the 'Organisation Settings' blue link and under the 'Features' heading you'll navigate and select "Email Settings".

Then you'll click on the 'templates' area to expand all templates you have available to you, and you'll write a little P.S. at the very end about your new address. Be sure to "copy" the wording before pressing "save" (you'll want this wording on multiple templates.

Update all relevant email templates by opening each, scrolling to the bottom and pasting the relevant script.
